For all of his 75 years, Bob Dunn’s home was the Morongo Basin, where his active community participation and leadership benefited countless individuals, families, and organizations across the basin.

Besides his involvement and sponsorship of youth sports and nearly all community events, Bob served on the Morongo Basin Unified School District Board of Directors, the Hi Desert Water District Board of Directors, and the Yucca Valley Airport District Board of Directors. He was a founding board member of the Lincoln Club of the Morongo Basin, the Basin Wide Foundation, and the Pelican Club. The list goes on, but clearly, few can match the extensive resume of community spirit that Bob Dunn built up during a lifetime in the Morongo Basin.

Upon his untimely death in May of 2020, the Lincoln Club board of directors voted to expand their annual scholarship program and dedicate it to the memory of Bob Dunn. In the spring of each year, the scholarship program is offered as an essay competition for local high school seniors. Cash awards are granted to graduating seniors to assist with the expenses of further education. The essay themes continue to emphasize patriotism and active community participation, values that were closely held and strongly exemplified by the life of Bob Dunn.

Organized as a Fiscal Affiliate under the Basin Wide Foundation umbrella, the Bob Dunn Memorial Scholarship Fund accepts tax-deductible donations to finance this worthy program.
